HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -
We all want nice things for our homes, but let's face it - some items are just way too expensive.
Curtain Call is having a sale where you can get custom home furnishings for a fraction of what you'd pay retail. They'll score the finer things in life for 60 to 90 percent off.
"Furniture, rugs, lamps, mirrors, window treatments, you name it," said co-owner Angie Furbee.
Everything here is consigned, overstock or discontinued... sold by its owners for far less than what they paid.
"Designers, to architects, to retailers and individuals like you and I," said Furbee.
There's much more furniture than in the past.
"Armoires, chests, chairs, sofas," said Furbee.
The main attraction here is the drapery - custom made curtains that would otherwise cost a small fortune.
"She really put her craftmanship in this, with the overlay of lace and the ruching at the top...the underlay is a silk fabric," said Furbee.
Normal price: more than $5000. Here? $695... and that's on the high end of what's available.
"With custom-made, you have a higher quality fabric, a lining, an interlining and special embellishments," said Furbee.
Want to make your own curtains? Cheap bolts of fabric and accessories make it more affordable.
"You can get really inexpensive drapery rods and put these beautiful finealls on the end and look, you've made your window treatment," said Furbee.
Pillows usually start at about $20.
"Here, you can get then for $8 on up," said Furbee.
Many of these items are unique and rare. Remember the Richmond Fish? This one came out of a home in the Fan and it can be yours for $500.
"They feel like they got the deal of the century, because they were able to decorate their home or office for a fraction of the cost," said Furbee.
The sale runs though next Wednesday. Starting Sunday, the already low prices will be slashed another 30%.
Curtain Call is located at the corner of Patterson and Pump in Henrico.
