Home invasion victim laid to rest, investigation continues

It was a day of mourning for Farzad Sultani's family as they said goodbye to a loved one and friend killed violently and unexpectedly. Wednesday, he was laid to rest at the Islamic Center.

Police now confirm that the person suspected of breaking in the Midlothian home and shooting him, also shot his or her way into the home. Police say a round was fired through a rear window after it appears the person tried to get in a different way. There were also reportedly bullet fragments found on the kitchen floor.

Farzad was found shot in the head, in his bedroom. He was taken to Johnston Willis hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police also say the suspect may have tried to get in other rooms. We're told there were five people home at the time, including siblings and relatives.

Police have yet to release a suspect description or a motive. However, they have indicated they believe this was an isolated incident.

"We never heard him talking about like anything, talking about anybody that he's got any trouble with anybody," said Raman Kumar. "Nothing like that."

Now, they hope police still working the case will be able to put he clues together to figure out who killed their friend.

"The only thing we gotta say is for the Chesterfield Police to work hard and put whoever did that behind bars," said Kumar.
