Posted: Updated:
4:41 update: Roanoke City Police spokesman Scott Leamon says that the suspect involved in a police chase wanted officers to kill him. A call from dispatchers at 2:50 said the man was headed to the police department with a weapon, with the intention of forcing an officer to kill him. They also learned that the man was in a vehicle at Gainsboro Rd and Wells Ave.

When they got to the intersection, the driver drove off, and the chase was on. The man eventually pulled over and surrendered after a brief negotiation with police. He was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. No charges have been filed at this time.
