Search for suspect accused of shooting clerk in Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA, VA (WWBT) - The Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office needs your help finding an armed robbery suspect accused of shooting a convenience store clerk.

Deputies say at approximately 3:00 a.m. Saturday, a suspect walked into the Fas Mart Store, located at 11600 Brock Road in Western Spotsylvania County and pretended to purchase an item. They tell us once the clerk turned away the man drew an unknown type handgun and shot the clerk, twice in the head, leaving her lying on the floor.

The victim, a 32 year old woman, was transported to Mary Washington Hospital E.R. and subsequently transferred by air ambulance to MCV Trauma Center. Her condition is listed as very serious.

The suspect got away with an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise. He is described as a white, male, 25 to 35 years of age, 5'4" to 5'7", weighing 160 to 170 pounds.  He was wearing a dark hoodie sweat shirt and jeans.  He was armed with an unknown caliber handgun.  A distinctive feature of the suspect is a black goatee on his chin.
