A woman with ties to Chester turns two chairs on The Voice. Megan Ruger lives in Nashville, but her parents live in the Chester area. Tuesday night, she joined "Team Blake," fulfilling a lifelong dream to make it big on the singing scene.
On a stage in front of thousands and all of America, Megan Ruger sang "Just Like a Pill."
She says she know this was her chance, and all she could think about were the four celebrities with their backs to her and getting those chairs to turn.
"I really wanted to throw my microphone at them," said Ruger. "I was just like, 'come on!'"
Blake Shelton and Usher turned around, indicating they wanted to coach her and let her continue on the show.
Megan says this is a chance for her luck to turn, too. She's been singing since she was just three, chasing a dream of a music career so blinding, nothing else fits.
"I have no car, no home, no real day job, no husband, no kids," said Ruger. "I have a Great Dane, a dream, a voice, a vision….and…a few dollars."
Most of all, that voice and a heart that beats strongest for music, and a chance to make the stage her home.
"I've sacrificed everything for this," said Ruger. "This is my life. It's crazy."
