LOUISA, VA (WWBT) -

A Louisa mother is convicted in the death of her 6-month-old son.

Tristan T. Goodwin, 32, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and felony child neglect on Wednesday.

Police responded to Goodwin's home on March 17, 2013, and found the baby dead. An autopsy confirmed the baby had a lethal dose of Benadryl in his system.

"This is a tragic case, and I hope this child's death sends the message to not give babies or young children Benadryl," said Louisa Commonwealth's Attorney Rusty McGuire.

Goodwin faces up to 20 years in prison. She is scheduled to be sentenced on May 15.
