Red Cross helping family after South Richmond fire

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The Red Cross is helping two adults and two kids after their South Richmond home caught fire Tuesday.

The blaze broke out around 9:30 a.m. at a single-story home on Weaver Court, near Midlothian Turnpike and Roanoke Street.

Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire coming from the home. The fire was marked under control nearly an hour later.

The man, woman, two girls and a dog inside were able to escape safely. 

Fire crews have not provided a possible cause or estimate on the amount of damage.
