Weather delays girl scout cookie delivery

Posted: Updated:

Last week's snow took its toll on an annual tradition. You can only order Girl Scout cookies three months out of the year, but this time around, people who placed orders didn't get their deliveries on time because they were not available due to the weather.

Many troops even had to cancel their booth sales. More than 100,000 boxes were delayed.

The Girl Scouts of the commonwealth of Virginia represents 30 counties and six cities in central Virginia. Each troop directly benefits from cookie sales. If they don't sell cookies, many of their activities are impacted.

Girl Scout officials say it's not just about the cookies but about what taking part in the program does for the girls.
