Jackson, TN (PRWEB) February 18, 2014
A Cardiology Outreach Clinic of the West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital began providing cardiovascular care in Paris, Tenn., on Feb. 17.
This is the third cardiology outreach clinic opened by West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center within the past 12 months. The other recently opened clinics are located in Dyersburg and Lexington, Tenn.
Our vision for the West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center is to bring together the top heart and vascular doctors, to offer the highest level of care, and deliver that care closer to the patients, said Deann Montchal, vice president of hospital services for West Tennessee Healthcare.
Montchal was recruited by West Tennessee Healthcare from the University of Iowa, which has a strong clinical outreach program noted for bringing the latest innovations in healthcare to communities. She was charged with expanding the West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center (WTHVC) at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. In the past year, WTHVC has added services and procedures including transaortic valve replacement Jackson-Madison County General Hospital as well as outreach clinics in Dyersburg, Lexington and now Paris.
Our cardiologists will provide ongoing care at our clinic and will also see hospital patients at Henry County Medical Center. The Paris Cardiology Outreach Clinic is equipped with a range of diagnostic testing and treatments that will be a big benefit to the entire community, said Montchal.
The new Paris Cardiology Outreach Clinic is located at 1006B Cornerstone Dr. The clinic is equipped for physician evaluations, echocardiograms, electrocardiograms, lab tests, stress tests and ankle-brachial index tests.
Cardiologists Louis E. Cunningham, M.D., and Tommy L. Miller, III, M.D. will see patients at the Paris Cardiology Outreach Clinic and will provide inpatient consultations at Henry County Medical Center. With these two cardiologists in Paris, patients will have more continuity of care and can easily see the same cardiologist at each clinic visit.
We feel that patients in the Paris area should have access to comprehensive care coordinated by a cardiologist who is here to see them on a regular basis, Dr. Cunningham said.
Paris Cardiology Outreach Clinic patients will have access to the advanced heart and vascular care provided by the West Tennessee Heart & Vascular Center (WTHVC). In addition to cardiologists like Dr. Cunningham and Dr. Miller, the WTHVC team includes cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional radiologists and an electrophysiologist.
WTHVC at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital treats more heart attack patients than any other hospital in Tennessee. The team has earned exceptionally high quality ratings, and a 2013 Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades one of only 379 hospitals in the nation to do so.
WTHVC has received Chest Pain Center with PCI Accreditation from the Society of Chest Pain Centers, the highest level of accreditation. Commonly known as angioplasty, PCI is a procedure that helps to open narrowed arteries in the heart either with balloon angioplasty or stents.
We believe that bringing this level of care to communities such as Paris is important. We know that health outcomes are improved when patients have easier access to care, noted Dr. Miller.
