Same-sex marriage advocates plan celebration in Carytown

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Supporters of same-sex marriage will hold a celebration Friday of a federal judge's ruling overturning the state's gay marriage ban.

"We have much to celebrate," stated Bill Harrison, executive director of the Foundation. "The court saw the injustice of discrimination and the decision is one more step closer to allowing Virginians to marry who they love."

The celebration will be held at 5:30 p.m. Friday at New York Deli and is sponsored by the Richmond Gay Community Foundation and People of Faith for Equality in Virginia.

The celebration was originally set for Shockoe Bottom, but has since been changed.
