Former RPD chief named finalist for SC police chief job

COLUMBIA, SC (WWBT) -

Former Richmond Police chief Bryan Norwood has been named a finalist for the Columbia, SC police chief position.

Columbia City Manager Teresa Wilson announced Norwood as one of five finalists for the position Tuesday.

The other candidates are: 

  • Tony Fisher -- Fisher was most recently the Director of Public Safety for the City of Spartanburg where he was responsible for the operation of Law Enforcement and Fire Suppression services for the City.
  • William Holbrook -- Holbrook is currently Chief of Police for the Huntington, West Virginia Police Department, where he manages 111 sworn and 15 civilian forces and a $12 million dollar annual budget.
  • Charles Rapp -- Rapp is currently serving as the Executive Director for the Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commissions.
  • Gregory Reese -- Reese currently serves as Chief of Security Forces for Air Force Space Command at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado.

Norwood and the other finalists will be involved in a three-day assessment process that will include the participation of the City Manager, Police Chief Search Committee, Community Stakeholders Panel and the citizens of Columbia, reports WIS-TV.
