The Piggly Wiggly in Homewood was full of shoppers stocking up on grocery staples Monday before wintry weather moves in.
Lisa Viola was shopping and Viola knows just how bad weather could be after being stranded two weeks ago with the snowstorm.
"I got stuck at work which is near Demetri's BBQ and had to walk to meet a friend in over near Baron's ballpark," Viola said.
Several people jammed the Piggly Wiggly looking for supplies just in case they end up unable to travel.
"I guess people think they are going to be snowed in for a week or so. They come in and wipe us out. It's pretty much the same every time," the store's manager, Johnny Miller, said.
Miller's employees spent a big portion of Monday restocking shelves to handle the demand. The usual items were bread and milk. Miller says that beer and wine are becoming a new high demand item.
Two weeks ago employees at the grocery store were trapped so this time around Miller said they were taking precautions.
"So this time we are prepared. We purchased air mattresses and blankets so if they ave to say here at the store they will be a little more comfortable if we didn't have it," Miller said.
Miller said the store also purchased some rooms at a nearby motel just in case. Meanwhile shoppers are keeping their fingers crossed.
"Just in case to get more groceries to have food at home and I don't have to get out," Viola said.
