Chesterfield Police searching for suspects in home invasion

Posted: Updated:

Chesterfield Police are looking for two suspects that pushed their way into an elderly woman's home.

Officers tell us around 6:19 p.m. Friday they were called to a home in the 8700 block of Chester Forest Lane.

The victim opened the door and observed two black males who then entered her residence and demanded her purse. The suspects proceeded to search the residence, then left the scene. The victim was not injured and nothing was stolen.

In 30 years, Marion has never heard of any major crime incidents in the Treemont neighborhood. All of that would change after Friday night. That's when police say two men forced their way inside of this home and attempted to steal from a 76 year-old woman.

"You just wish the world would be a better place than to do things like that especially with her age I think that is kind of bad."

Marion, a neighborhood watch advocate, lives just a cross the street from where this all happened

We went by the home today. The victim was too distraught to speak to us on camera. The front door and windows were boarded up and remnants of shattered glass is still on the porch.

Marion says the area has an active neighborhood watch that is in desperate need of support from the community.

"I wish it was more, I really do we used to get fliers in our mailbox," Marion said.

Those fliers have since stopped but the groups presence is made known by markers on member's mailboxes.

Other neighbors say they didn't hear or notice anything out of the ordinary around the time the home invasion happened. Chesterfield police continue efforts to search for the suspects. They say no items were stolen from the home.

Marion says she is thankful that the woman who lives at the home was not hurt. She sends a warning, asking everyone to be cautious.

"I wish it could be a wonderful place where nobody hurt nobody or anything but it just doesn't happen that way all the time," Marion said.
