HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A second passenger has died from injuries received when a car she was riding in crashed into the Chickahominy River during a police chase.

Twenty-seven-year-old Jessica Gallmeyer of Sandston died Thursday. Her sister, Amanda Irby, died Wednesday after being taken off life support. Irby was a freshman at Highland Springs High School in Henrico.

Monday night was Irby's birthday. Investigators say she and her sister were riding in a car with Andrew Walters when he sped off after police tried to pull him over. His car crashed into the swamp below and Walters ran. It took rescuers 20 minutes to pull Amanda and her sister.

Walters is being held at the Henrico County Jail without bond. He is charged with driving on a suspended license, failing to pull over for officers, proving false information to officers and an unrelated assault warrant from Hanover. Officers are working with prosecutors to see if additional charges will be filed.
