HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - Henrico and Petersburg schools announced changes to their staff and student schedules to make up instruction time lost in last month's snow days.
Henrico school officials announced students and staff will now have to attend school on President's Day, February 17. Henrico lost six days of instruction due to snow days.
"While we value the tremendous benefits of having dedicated professional development time for staff, under the current circumstances it is best to devote this time to student instruction," said Superintendent Patrick Kinlaw. "We feel it is appropriate to announce this change now to give everyone plenty of time to adjust," Kinlaw added.
Petersburg staff and students will also have to attend school on President's Day, February 17. In addition, the school district is using two days originally scheduled as spring break, April 14 and 15, and Memorial Day as make up days. June 16 and 17 will now be early release days. The new spring break days are now April 16 - 21.
