Richmond Police are searching for a person of interest in the homicide of a woman found shot in a car on Mandalay Road.

He said he loved her. Mom says he killed her. Richmond Police are now calling 23-year-old Lionel Carter, III, of the 600 block of Westover Hills Boulevard, a person of interest in a teen's murder.

Police have been investigating 19-year-old Kadijah Stewart's death since Friday.

The family is outraged over Carter's recent instagram messages.

"I love you to death and even after" wrote Carter on his instagram page after the death of his high school sweetheart, Kadijah Stewart.

Carter was extremely emotional on social media just days before police named him a person of interest in his girlfriend's murder.

"Why," questioned Stewart's mother Kenisha Dorsey. "Why would you do that?"

"I swear my will to live is so weak right now," wrote Carter. "When you left I can honestly say you took my heart with you. I promise I'm going to be with you real soon."

Mom says Carter and her daughter had a "violent relationship."

"I just used to tell both of them you all just need to leave each other alone," recalls Dorsey. "I understand that you all have some kind of crazy love that won't go away, but you all are not good together."

Family members say at least one concerned citizen knew something was wrong on the night Stewart was killed.

"He said he wanted to say something," recalls Dorsey. "But the guy was in such a rage that he said let me go call the police."

Officers would later make the gruesome discovery. Detectives believe Carter may have information about the shooting. They advise anyone who spots Carter or knows of his whereabouts to call police immediately. He is currently being sought on several warrants unrelated to the homicide, but Mom has strong feelings.

"Why would you have to take a gun and kill her?" questioned Dorsey. "What could she do to you that would make you want to do it? Why would you do that? You are supposed to love her."

Carter closed his instagram note with a cryptic message. He said Stewart is: "My Heart, My life, because without you I won't live one!"

Anyone with information about Lionel Carter, III should contact Detective Anthony Coates at 804 517-9031. Or, if they wish to remain anonymous, they may call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000.
