'White wolf' spotted in Chesterfield turns out to be a dog

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield Animal Control officials say rumors of a white wolf wandering the county are actually just sightings of a shepherd-husky mix.

The animal has been spotted everywhere from Colonial Heights to Prince George to Chesterfield and even Amelia.

Julianne Eldridge was driving to work around 8 a.m. Wednesday when she spotted the animal at the intersection of Banff Court and Park Branch Lane in the Woodland Pond subdivision not far from Pocahontas State Park.

She knew the animal was beautiful and very unusual and believed it was a white wolf.

However, Chesterfield Animal Control officials actually sent pictures of the animal to the USDA and they analyzed the pictures and determined it's a shepherd husky mix.

Animal Control officers have been trying to catch the animal for months.

Officers say even though this isn't a wolf, you should still stay away from it as you would any other wild animal.
