HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A flurry of snow days led Henrico Schools to decide Thursday to cancel end of semester exams for high school classes.
The school district has been closed since Tuesday due to snow, at a time when semester exams were set to begin. With second semester classes beginning Tuesday, school officials decided it would be best to cancel the regular exams, according to a statement on the school system's website.
The school district said this week's snow days would mean next week would be dedicated to exam taking, forcing a loss in valuable instruction days. Officials also said the students may not be adequately prepared for the exams, given the break in instruction.
The school system still hasn't determined whether there will be any delays or closures Friday.
Students who need the exam to improve their grades can speak with their teachers about scheduling a time by Wednesday. They must accept the grade regardless of the outcome, as grades will close on January 30.
A new date for report card distribution has not been scheduled, yet.
