Mental health bill held up until Monday - NBC12 - WWBT - Richmond, VA News On Your Side

Deeds' mental health bill held up until Monday

A signature mental health bill proposed by Senator Creigh Deeds has been held up until Monday.

Concerns were raised at the General Assembly by the Goochland Sheriff and the ACLU about possible problems if patients were held for 24 hours.

Sen. Deeds introduced a series of bills to transform mental health services after he was stabbed multiple times to his head and his son, Austin "Gus" Deeds, was found dead.

Gus Deeds reportedly underwent a mental health evaluation the day before he was found dead.
