In this week's Neighborhood Health Watch we discuss a problem that many of you may face and we give you some helpful tips.
In Chesterfield, Dr. Christopher Marshall is treating acid reflux disease.
He tells us it is characterized by chest pain ("heartburn"), regurgitation, belching and sometimes a dry cough.
Avoid fatty, spicy, or acidic foods and alcohol. If smoking, stop! Over the counter medications like H2 blockers, PPI's and calcium-based acid buffers may be tried individually or in combination with one another.
If symptoms are not controlled with lifestyle changes or over the counter medications, seek medical attention.
