Chesterfield police looking for construction fraud victims

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

Chesterfield Police are looking for additional victims of a man believed to be involved in at least two cases of construction fraud in Chesterfield County.

On Dec. 31, police obtained warrants for Jimmy A.S. Lane, 27, for construction fraud and fraudulent use of a birth certificate or driver's license.

The investigation indicates that in October 2013, Lane agreed to repair the driveways of at least two residents. He received an initial payment of several hundred dollars from each resident, but failed to complete the work for either victim.

Police believe Lane, of Pennsylvania, may have more victims in Chesterfield County. Lane may have identified himself as Everett Burgess and presented identification bearing that name.

"Opportunity brought him here," said Sgt. Kevin Carroll with Chesterfield Police. "Some victims are embarrassed to come forward but we want Lane to pay for what he's done."

Police urge anyone who was a victim of Lane, or who has information about his whereabouts, to contact them at 804-748-1251 immediately.
