Good morning from Gray. Here's a look at some of the stories you will want to catch before you leave the house on 12 News Today.
Today is expected to be one of the coldest days we've seen in years. Some places have dropped below the teens. If you have to leave your house today, bundle up! We're talking gloves, hats, scarves, along with your heaviest coat. Right now, virtually every school system in our viewing area is operating on a two hour delay this morning. The includes: Richmond, Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico.
Also, a reminder, if you plan on taking a flight today, we have some important information. There are flight delays of up to **four hours** at Richmond International Airport.
Happening today, the man found guilty of beating a Goochland teacher will be sentenced. Uriah Harris is facing up to 16 years in prison. During the trial--Harris defended himself in court and told jurors he still loved the woman he attacked. That beating happened in December 2012 and two other teachers had to jump in and save the victim.
The Henrico School Board will vote on new leaders this week. The search for a new Superintendent also continues and on Thursday, the board will vote to fill several positions. This includes the Board Chair and Vice-Chair. This election occurs every year but this time, it comes as the school system looks for a new leader. Former superintendent, Doctor Patrick Russo, officially resigned two months ago. The school system has just two more months to find his replacement.
