A Danville man can't believe he has become an overnight millionaire after winning Virginia's New Year's Millionaire Raffle.
John Humphries III bought five tickets to the raffle. When he saw #19966 was one of the three winners, he called the Virginia Lottery's Player Information line.
"I had to call several times to confirm," said Humphries.
On Friday, Virginia Lottery Executive Director Paula Otto presented Humphries with his check.
The other two top-prize winners were bought in Clearbrook and Woodbridge. The six $25,000 winners were bought in Alexandria, Harrisonburg, Lexington, Norfolk, Richmond and Skippers.
The store that sold the ticket to Humphries, the Apple Market at 3225 Halifax Road in South Boston, will also receive a $10,000 bonus.
