RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Richmond man faces a number of charges in connection with a New Year's Eve pursuit that damaged three cars.

Roger K. Franklin, 23, has been charged with failure to yield, driving on a revoked license, felony elude, two counts of misdemeanor hit and run and two counts of felony hit and run.

Police say he led officers on a pursuit in downtown Richmond just minutes before the start of the new year. The chase began when an officer stopped a car on Broad Street for trying to make an illegal u-turn at Allen Street, according to Richmond Police. The driver then led the officer on a slow-speed pursuit hitting three cars and striking a tree and a building at Madison and Franklin streets, police said.

The driver finally came to a stop, jumped out of the car and was chased down by officers, according to Richmond Police. The suspect was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
