Ball rise moved to Hardywood after Carytown cancellation

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The annual Richmond ball rise will take place at Hardywood, the brewery announced in a last-minute Facebook post Tuesday.

The ball rise has taken place above the Byrd Theatre in Carytown in recent years, but organizers announced recently the event was canceled.

Hardywood announced it would host the celebration with less than 12 hours left in the year. The brewery said it would open its tasting room at 9 p.m. to midnight, with food trucks on site.

Provide A Ride will also be on hand to help partiers get home safe.

The Byrd Theatre Foundation announced earlier this month the event would not be held in Carytown this year, due to growing concern over trash, vandalism and other concerns.
