OXFORD, MS (RNN) - Mississippi rallied late in the second half but fell short, losing to Mercer 79-76 at home on Sunday.

The Rebels (8-3) played catch-up for almost the entire first half, only tying the Bears (8-4) once in the first three minutes. Mercer led 41-29 at halftime and increased their lead to as many as 16 points in the second. Ole Miss closed the deficit and grabbed a seven-point lead with six minutes left but lost it two minutes later. A 3-pointer by Mercer's Langston Hall in the final seconds helped the Bears escape with the win.

Jarvis Summers led Ole Miss with 21 points. Marshall Henderson added 18.

This was the Rebels' second home loss of the season, previously falling to No. 13 Oregon in overtime on Dec 8.

Ole Miss gets more than a week off before hitting the road to play Western Kentucky on Dec. 30.
