Police investigating home invasion in Richmond

Richmond Police are investigating a home invasion in the East End.

Police say around 2:09 a.m. Sunday a 62 year old man was sleeping inside a home in the 5300 block of Blue Ridge Avenue when his door was kicked in by three male suspects.

A foot print on the door to an East end home is a startling reminder of the terror that struck in the early morning hours, Sunday. Richmond police say three men kicked open the front door. Once inside they tied up the man who lived there.

"The man doesn't bother anybody he's right across the street he goes to work comes home and don't bother a soul," Harris said.

Angenette Harris has lived across the street from the home for the last 6 years. she knows first hand what its like to have criminals destroy property. Harris told us two years ago her back porch was mysteriously set on fire.

"The fire department did the investigation and say chemicals were found on my porch but they never found out who was the cause of it."

Police are actively searching for the suspects in this most recent crime on Blue Ridge Avenue. They say the men stole the owner's credit cards, debit card, cell phone, and more than a $160.

"Be mindful that these things are going on right here in my own back yard," Mandel said.

Teddy Mandel has lived in the area for about a month. He says he's not surprised about what happened because nowadays violence is everywhere.

"This is the world we live in not necessarily the area we live in particular its just the world we live in you know you have these things happening all the time," Mandel said.
