RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - The race for attorney general is over, but it was historically close. That's why Republican Mark Obenshain asked for a recount.
Here's what he said as part of his reasoning: "Of the four statewide races this century within a 300-vote margin, three have been overturned in a recount."
Is he right? According to Politifact, that statement is true. Although, as Sean Gorman explains, these situations are not exactly like the one Obenshain was dealing with.
"Virginia has a largely electronic voting process, which they said would have led to a smaller percentage of a hand recount (votes being recounted by hand), than there had been in a couple other states where he had cited that there had been an overturning of the election results," Gorman said.
