Prosecutors want gag order in Alexis Murphy case

Posted: Updated:

Prosecutors are asking a judge for a gag order in the case against a man accused of abducting a Nelson County teen.

Commonwealth's Attorney Anthony Martin asked a judge for the gag order last week in the Alexis Murphy abduction case. Randy Taylor is currently charged with abduction and is scheduled for a jury trial in February.

Martin wants to ensure potential witnesses, and law-enforcement officials don't release any sensitive information to the media or public which could make it hard for Taylor to get a fair trial in Nelson County.

The motion will be heard in the Nelson County Circuit Court on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.

Law enforcement officials continue to investigate Murphy's disappearance.
