Holiday jobs still available in Central VA

Christmas is just three weeks away. You might think it's too late to get a holiday job to pay for all those gifts you're buying. We discovered there are many local companies hiring seasonal and permanent employees.

On the Snagajob.com website today, several Richmond-area companies are listed as still making seasonal hires right now, including: Chipotle Mexican Grill, Home Depot, JoAnn Fabric, Macy's, Michaels, and Toys R Us.

The Amazon Distribution Centers in Chester and Dinwiddie are ramping up for holiday gift orders.

"The main jobs I'm hearing about is Amazon. They're doing distribution for the products that they're selling," said Dennis Woodard with the Virginia Employment Commission.

The online retailer announced it would hire 7000 workers nationwide this holiday season. You can apply at AmazonFullfillmentCareers.com.

Vireol Good Biofuels, the British company that bought the former Osage Biofuels plant in Hopewell, is holding an information session and hiring fair Thursday for a new manufacturing operation in Hopewell, according to the Virginia Employment Commission. Vireol's Technical Director tells us they'll announce their plans in due course. Their information sessions are Thursday at 9:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:00 a.m. at the VEC, 5240 Oaklawn Boulevard in Hopewell.

General Dynamics Information Technology is holding a job fair Thursday for temporary customer service representatives. It's from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. at 701 Liberty way in Chester. Applicants must bring proof of their education and apply online beforehand at GDIT.com/careers. Look for requisition number 218520.

First Vehicle Services is currently hiring managers and heavy duty technicians. They're conducting interviews Thursday and Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Courtyard, 10077 Brook Road, Glen Allen. Randstad is holding a job fair for forklift operators with prior warehouse, order selecting, and shipping or receiving experience. It's Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the VEC, 3719 Saunders Avenue, Richmond. You need to apply first at vawc.virginia.gov using job order #393569. Or call 663-5400.

RJ Smith Companies is looking for seasonal snow removal help. Candidates need a CDL Class B license and DOT Medical Card. Apply in person at 1711 Reymet Road in North Chesterfield.

Henrico County Public Schools is currently hiring substitute bus drivers, custodians, and cafeteria workers, as well as full-time bus drivers.

The Virginia Employment Commission says there are many more businesses hiring now.
