CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) -

A man set a Chesterfield home on fire with three children inside Wednesday morning, leaving the family with no place to live.

The children were able to escape the home near the intersection of Ravensbourne and Winterbourne drives without injury, but the home is no longer livable according to Chesterfield Fire officials.

Police are searching for the man who came to the home's back door and threw something into the home that set the home on fire. They are investigating the case as a domestic incident.

Red Cross is now helping the family with housing, as the fire has left them homeless the day before Thanksgiving.
