Kevin Jeanes Hired as KOLD/KMSB's Chief Meteorologist

KOLD News 13 announced today that Kevin Jeanes has been hired as Chief Meteorologist at KOLD/KMSB/KTTU. Jeanes replaces Chuck George who left the station earlier this year to pursue an academic career.

Jeanes comes to KOLD in Tucson, AZ from another Raycom Media station, WWBT in Richmond, Virginia.  Jeanes has been a meteorologist at WWBT for more than three years.  Before that, he was at WEIU in Charleston, Illinois.  Jeanes is a graduate of Eastern Illinois with a Bachelor Science in Geography with a Minor in Earth Science as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a Minor in Broadcast Meteorology.

"Kevin is an excellent Meteorologist who understands the science of weather and how it affects our viewers' lives," says Debbie Bush, KOLD Vice-President/General Manager.  "We are very glad to welcome him to Tucson."

Kevin joins the largest staff of degreed Meteorologists in Tucson:  Dan Bronis who joined the team in May, 2013 and veteran forecasters Erin Jordan who is working on her PhD in Arid Land Resources from the University of Arizona and Aaron Pickering, who is working on his MBA from the Eller School of Business at UA.

"We are indeed fortunate to have such a great team of scientists at KOLD," says KOLD News 13 News Director Michelle Germano.  "I also want to thank Erin, Aaron and Dan for working extra hours while the station completed its Chief Meteorologist search."

Kevin Jeanes will wrap up his job in Virginia this year and start at KOLD on January 6, 2014.

"I am very excited to join such a respected team of meteorologists at KOLD/KMSB," says Kevin Jeanes.  "Tucson is in one of the most beautiful parts of the country and I can't wait to make the move. With such a strong team of meteorologists, the viewers of Southern Arizona can count on us to bring them and their family an accurate First Alert Forecast to help them plan their day."
