RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Twelve people, some in town for Thanksgiving, are looking for a place to stay after a fire inside of a Richmond home early Tuesday morning.

Around 4:30 a.m., flames broke out in a residence in the 2300 block of Dorsett Road, according to several people inside. They had just arrived in Richmond for the holiday and said the fire may be due to an electrical problem, as the smelled something strange before the fire.

A dog was also inside, but was able to be rescued by firefighters.

The homeowner was out of town at the time of the fire. It remains under investigation.
