HENRICO, VA (WWBT) -

A teacher's aid at Freeman High School has been charged with taking a naked photo of a current student at the school.

Josh Brinkley, 22, took a photo of an 18-year-old male student's private parts while at Freeman last week, according to Henrico Police.  Henrico Schools confirm Brinkley worked as a temporary instructional assistant and works with students who have special needs.  His LinkedIn profile also says he's an assistant basketball coach at Freeman.

Although it was Brinkley's first year at the school, students knew him.

"When they see him they say oh he's an awesome guy because he takes his time to help kids with special needs," says Edin Salhovic, a senior.

Parents say this incident does not define Freeman.

"It is shocking but I'm proud that my son goes to Freeman and it's such a great place I feel safe with him there," says Carter Miller, a parent.

HCPS released this statement:

"We consider the privacy and safety of our students to be a top priority, and we are treating the accusation seriously. We also must let the legal process run its course before making any additional comments specific to this incident.

The parents of the affected student have been notified. We also will offer to meet with any additional parents who express their concerns."

Brinkley was a standout basketball player for Freeman's basketball team through 2009 before playing for the University of Delaware.
