Fourth straight title or bust for Lady Cats

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

The Crisp Academy Lady Wildcats have already built a dynasty, winning the last three GISA A state titles.

But this team won't be satisfied unless they add one more.

"After three, you don't want to lose the fourth," says senior Kara White. "It's what we've been working for."

The Lady Wildcats return six seniors, including fifth year players White, Kayla Childers, and Mercer signee Madi Mitchell.

This team knows the expectations and pressure are high, but they say it's not necessarily a bad thing.

"You don't have to mention it. It's always going to be there," Mitchell says of the expectations. "I think that's why we work so hard. It's so that we can win."

After three straight titles, the Lady Wildcats are clearly the team to beat in Single A this season, and they expect to get every team's best shot.

However, that's nothing new for a team that's dealt with the same thing two times before.

"We just know that we have to work hard, and we can't just think that we're going to win because we've already won three," says senior guard Kayla Childers.  We don't do that. It just makes us work harder."

"It's easy because we've been there and we know what it feels like," says Mitchell. "But then again, it's extra hard because everyone's trying to go get us."

The Lady Wildcats tip off the 2013-2014 season Tuesday at a tournament in Statesboro.
