ASU finishes improbable run to SIAC Championship

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA, GA (WALB) -

After a horrendous 1-4 start, the Rams battled their way back to the SIAC Title Game, where they rallied once again, this time to earn a conference championship.

"The way we had to fight back all year, the guys kept believing that they could get it done," said head coach Mike White. "You couldn't write it no better than this. You couldn't script this no better than this."

As they were forced to do all season, the Rams had to rally once again, this time from a seven point halftime deficit. The Rams got two big plays from All-American senior safety Dexter Moody, turning them into ten points and completing the unlikeliest of comebacks, with a 17-14 win over Miles.

With reports circulating that the Pioneer bowl might be discontinued this year, Saturday could have been Moody's last game in a Golden Ram uniform.

"If this is my last game, man I'm happy with it," Moody said. "I wouldn't rather go out any other way."

The win was Albany's State fifth straight to close out the season.
