Golden Rams wins SIAC Championship

ATLANTA, GA (WALB) -

Albany State won the SIAC Championship game Saturday evening in Atlanta, 17-14.

Much like their past handful of games, the Golden Rams overcame a halftime deficit to earn the victory. ASU trailed 14-7 at the half.

Adrian Alexander scored the game-winning touchdown with under 5 minutes left to go in the game.

"It was just amazing, once again hard work pays off," Alexander said.

The rise to SIAC Champions is shocking considering the team's 1-4 start to the season. Head Coach Mike White was impressed with how his staff and team fought through their early struggles.

"Ever body believed that we can get it down and the played hard and did it," White said. "I've never been more proud of any group that we had."

ASU is no eligible for the NCAA Div. II playoffs.
