Auburn wins 43-38 over Georgia with amazing finish

AUBURN, AL (WSFA) -

The Auburn Tigers and their fans were fired up for Saturday's key SEC match up against the University of Georgia and it paid off.

In front of a sellout crowd at Jordan-Hare Stadium, the No. 7 Tigers defeated the No. 25 Bulldogs 43-38.

It was a great first half for the Tigers. Auburn got on the board first with a 22-yard field goal by Cody Parkey with 8:15 left in the first quarter.

Corey Grant ran 21 yards in to the end zone for the first touchdown of the game taking Auburn to 10-0 over Georgia with 4:29 left in the first.

Auburn settled for another field goal in the second quarter taking the lead to 13-0 with 13:07 left in the second quarter.

A 42-yard pass by Aaron Murray helped Georgia get on the board. With 10:11 left in the 2nd quarter, Georgia cut the lead to 13-7.

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall ran for six yards to take the score to 20-7 with 8:32 left in the half.

Auburn marched down the field again in the second quarter but came away empty when UGA blocked a field goal attempt with 3:10 left in the half.

Georgia got the ball back, but not for long after Ryan Smith picked off Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray's pass.

Auburn capitalized on the interception as Tre Mason took it up the middle to make it 27-7 with about one minute to go in the half.

Auburn's 27 points was the most it had scored in the first half against Georgia since 1996

Aaron Murray's 16-yard touchdown run and extra point made it 27-17 with 11:01 left the third quarter.

Auburn quickly answered back with Marshall taking it in from five yards out and increasing the Auburn lead to 34-17.

Another field goal by Parkey gave Auburn a 37-17 lead with 12:39 left in the fourth quarter.

Georgia scored twice in the fourth quarter to cut Auburn's lead to 37-24 with 5:59 left to play.

Aaron Murray scored the game tying touchdown to take Georgia to a 38-37 lead with 1:49 left in the game.

On fourth and 18 with 36 seconds left to play, Ricardo Louis made an unbelievable catch to make it 43-38.
