HENRICO, VA (WWBT) - A McDonald's employee and two others are now behind bars for an early morning robbery at the Short Pump franchise location.
An employee, Jason Martin, told Henrico police two masked people with guns approached him in the parking lot at 4 a.m., demanded money, robbed the store and ran off.
Responding officers spotted two people on Broad Street, who began running when the officers approached. The officers were able to stop Travis Taliaferro and Latoya Clark, both of Goochland, near the I-64 interchange and found weapons and cash on them, according to police.
"When the officers and detectives started talking to the two suspects, they found out the employee of the McDonalds was actually involved and had knowledge this was going to happen," said Lt. Linda Toney with the Henrico Police Department.
Through their investigation, police also say the three suspects had plans to rob the McDonald's at an earlier time but it didn't happen.
All three now face two counts of conspiracy to commit grand larceny, one count of false police report, and one count of grand larceny.
