RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - Virginia is one step closer to electing a new Attorney General.
Mark Herring, the Democratic State Senator for Loudon County, now has a 163 vote lead after every single ballot in Virginia was officially counted.
The State Board of Elections must now certify the count before November 25.
Because the margin of victory is less than .5% Herring's opponent, Republican State Senator Mark Obenshain is entitled to ask for a recount that will be paid for by the localities.
Obenshain cannot ask for that recount until the vote is officially certified.
