HANOVER, VA (WWBT) -

Virginia State Police say a boat fell off a trailer on Interstate 95 Thursday afternoon.

A woman was driving to Florida on I-95 south when the tow strap that hooks onto the boat broke around 1:45 p.m. The boat fell off the trailer just south of mile marker 88, not far from the Lewistown Road exit.

The driver lost control and the trailer, with the boat on board, overcorrected and went off the shoulder. No other vehicles were in the area, so no one was hurt and no additional damage occurred.

Police briefly closed all lanes, but have since cleared the scene. The driver will not be charged.
