Exercise-induced asthma

CHESTERFIELD, VA (WWBT) - Working out is important. But you need to be careful if breathing becomes difficult.

Dr. Larry Benson is warning his patients about exercise induced asthma.

Wheezing, coughing  and or chest tightness that occurs during or after exercise. Many times it's a problem that didn't exist before.

Pre-exercise medications typically prevent problems during exercise.

For severe cases, pulmonary function testing may be needed. Any suspected case of exercise induced asthma needs to be evaluated by a physician.
