Fredericksburg Police search apartments for armed and dangerous shooting suspect

FREDERICKSBURG, VA (WWBT) -

Fredericksburg Police are searching for a shooter believed to be hiding inside an apartment with multiple weapons.

Police are searching the Commons Apartment Complex in the 2300 block of Cowan Blvd after a man was shot around 8:40 p.m. The victim was found outside and evacuated to a safe area, then transported to a hospital. His injury is considered non life-threatening.

Police are asking people to stay away from the scene or remain indoors unless contacted and told to evacuate.

Special Equipment and Tactical Team (SETT) and the Crisis Negotiation Team is on the scene, as well as Virginia State Police and Spotsylvania and Stafford deputies. Police consider the suspect extremely dangerous.
