LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - Here's the latest updates on traffic changes for the week due to bridge construction downtown and on the east end.

Work Currently Underway:

Louisville Streets:

Lane restrictions are expected on Witherspoon Street from Preston Street to Adams Street through Saturday, November 2 for utility work and pile driving. One lane of traffic will be open in each direction.

The right lane of eastbound Witherspoon Street from Adams Street to River Road is scheduled to be closed through Friday, November 1. Flaggers will be used at times to control traffic in one lane.

The left lane of Main Street from Hancock Street to Jackson Street is scheduled to be closed through Friday, November 1 for work on retaining walls.

The right lane and right parking lane on eastbound Market Street from Jackson Street to Hancock Street are scheduled to be closed through Wednesday, October 30 for abutment work.

The right lane and right parking lane on Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Preston Street are scheduled to be closed through Saturday, November 2 for pile driving.

The two right lanes and the right parking lane on Jefferson Street from Jackson Street to Preston Street are scheduled to close overnight Friday, October 25 for abutment work. The lanes will close around 7 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

The left lane of Jackson Street from Jefferson Street to Market Street is scheduled to be closed through Friday, November 8 for abutment work.

Kentucky Side:

Work scheduled to begin Monday, October 28:

One lane of I-64 East from 9th Street to the I-71 North ramp is scheduled to close overnight Monday, October 28-Friday, November 1 for temporary lighting and earthwork. It's expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. each day.

Work scheduled for Tuesday, October 29:

The right lane of I-71 North near Frankfort Avenue is scheduled to close overnight Tuesday, October 29 for temporary lighting. It's expected to close around 9 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m.

Louisville Streets:

Work scheduled for Thursday, October 31:

The left lane of Liberty Street from Floyd Street to Preston Street is scheduled to close Thursday, October 31-Saturday, November 2 for excavation work.

Continuing Closures and Restrictions:

Kentucky Side:

The ramp from I-64 East to I-65 South closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through the spring of 2016.

The right lane of I-65 South from the Jefferson Street ramp to Muhammad Ali Boulevard closed July 15 and is scheduled to be closed through 2016.

Indiana Side:

Broadway Street has closed from Court Avenue to 6th Street. This includes the closure of the 6th Street ramp to I-65 North. These are permanent closures.

7th Street has closed from Missouri Avenue to Broadway Street. This is a permanent closure.

VFW Boulevard has closed from 7th Street to 9th Street. This is a permanent closure.

US 31-South (Exit Ramp 1) from Brown Station Way to Stansifer Avenue has been reduced to two lanes.

US 31-South, in the area just south of Stansifer Avenue, has been reduced to one lane. Vehicles are still able to exit onto 10th Street.

Effective Tuesday, Oct. 29: Indiana SR 62 southbound will be one lane beginning about one-quarter of a mile prior to the Indiana SR 265 interchange and continuing until about one-quarter of a mile beyond the interchange. This arrangement will likely be in place for the duration of the East End Crossing construction project.

Blasting schedule for week of Oct. 28:

  • Monday, October 28, at about 11 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, October 29, at about 11 a.m., at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m.
  • Wednesday, October 30, at about 11 a.m., at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m..
  • Thursday, October 31, at about 11 a.m., at about 2:30 p.m. and again at about 7 p.m.
  • Friday, November 1, at about 11 a.m. and again at about 2:30 p.m.
  • The actual starting date and duration for the work may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen activities occur. Also, given the aggressive overall construction schedule for the project, Walsh DBT may shift work schedules when opportunities arise.
