No environmental hazard in Rte. 10 chemical spill

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A chemical spill on Route 10, west of Allied street, slowed down Friday morning's commute.

A transport vehicle going from a Honeywell facility in Hopewell to another in Chesterfield, when a chemical began leaking just after 4 a.m. Friday.

The chemical, caprolactam, is used in a process for making nylon thread. The spill closed one westbound lane of Route 10 and one lane of Allied Road. 

Police say there is no environmental hazard and the clean up is now complete.
