Car ends in water near Mayo Bridge in Richmond

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A car careened into the water near Mayo Bridge Thursday morning, Richmond Police said.

The car crashed into the water around 3:00 a.m., but the driver managed to walk away from the water unharmed. Fire and rescue crews managed to get the car out of the water a short time later, according to Richmond Police. The water where the car was about 3' to 4' deep.

The driver is under investigation for driving under the influence. Northbound lanes of Hull Street were shut down for a time Thursday morning, but have since been re-opened.
