Hopewell woman buys car on Craigslist, finds lost ashes

HOPEWELL, VA (WWBT) -

You can get all types of things on Craigslist, but one family says they got more than they bargained for when they purchased a car, and later found ashes inside.

The family now wants to know if you recognize the urn. Tiffany Cardona says her husband bought the car as a "new project" that would ultimately help save on gas. They were shocked to find ashes inside when they finally got around to cleaning up the car.

"We are just kind of lost on what to do with them," said Cardona.

Tiffany was forced to cremate her father after a tragic death, and she can't imagine what this family is going through.

"Somebody told me take it to the river and pray and throw it in there," said Cardona. "I can't do that. If it was something I lost of my dad...I would want it back."

Cardona notes the car is a Mitsubishi Galant. It has a CarMax stamp.

"I just need some help trying to find Zacharia Clow," said Cardona who admits she is not certain about the spelling. "That was the owner of the car before we bought it."

Tiffany says there was also mail in the car addressed to a Jessica Judd.

"The paperwork that I found in the car," said Cardona. "All of it said North Chesterfield."

We stopped by Morrissett Funeral Home in North Chesterfield to speak with funeral director Larry Spiaggi. Spiaggi agreed to take a look at images of the urn.

"it looks like a little SinoSource urn," said Spiaggi. "That looks like a SinoSource box."

Spiaggi notes the urn looks like a keepsake urn.

"We've got in-laws and outlaws and all of that," said Spiaggi. "This is a keepsake and sometimes people will put them on their mantle."

Contact Tiffany at ram1313@hotmail.com if you recognize the urn.
