All lanes back open after three-vehicle crash on I-95 south in Hanover

HANOVER, VA (WWBT) - A three-vehicle crash closed all southbound lanes of Interstate 95 in Hanover, creating major delays.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. near the Lewistown Road exit (mile marker 89) Friday. A tractor-trailer, a RV, and a pickup truck were involved in the accident.

Police say the RV ran off the road, then overcorrected - striking the tractor-trailer, which caused it to hit the pickup truck.

Two of the people in the RV were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the RV, Saaj S. Parikh, 21, was charged with reckless driving – failure to maintain proper control.

According to VDOT, traffic was backed up nine miles due to the crash. All lanes are back open, but traffic delays persist. VDOT is encouraging drivers to use Route 1 south as an alternate.
