RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

A Chesterfield mother was found guilty Tuesday of giving her 6-year-old daughter beer at a Richmond Flying Squirrels game.

Erin Ellis was found guilty of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to prosecutors. However, she will not go to jail as she was sentenced to 30 days, with the entire amount suspended. Prosecutors asked for her to be sent to parenting classes, though her lawyer said he plans to appeal.

Prosecutors dismissed a similar charge against Russell Ellis.

According to Richmond Police, witnesses reported to an officer at a game in June that Erin Ellis give her child a beer to drink and Russell did nothing to stop it. Sources say there was even a picture of the alleged incident shown to officers. Witnesses identified Erin and Russell Ellis of Moseley as the parents involved.
