RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) - If you've been to the stores in the last month, you might have noticed an early push for this year's Christmas shopping. There's one place you should go before you shop if saving money is on your wish list.
Tiffany Cutts doesn't pay full price for anything, and that includes Christmas presents.
"(How much do you typically spend during Christmas?) Less than $100," said Tiffany.
Now she's sharing her knowledge in a workshop put on by the Richmond Times-Dispatch. Tiffany says if you wait until Black Friday, you'll miss some really good deals. Her first recommendation is shopping for Christmas year round.
You don't have to worry about dealing with the crowds and spending all your money on Black Friday. She avoids the brick-and-mortar stores for good reason.
"I'm actually on the computer on Black Friday. I've learned that a lot of the stores offer the same deals online as in the stores, and I can shop in my pajamas," said Tiffany.
Tiffany can teach you how to get money back from purchases made online.
"The only time I shop online is if I'm getting free shipping and earning cash back."
She shows you how to use websites like "Shop at Home" and "ebates" that put a percentage of what you spend back in your wallet.
"You can earn 8%, even up to 20%, during the holidays. They offer a lot for cash back. Very simple sign up with basic information, name, address where they can mail the check to."
She'll tell you which stores pricematch...
"Best Buy does. If you see something on Amazon and it's cheaper than in the store, all you have to do is just show it on your phone and they'll guarantee that."
If you like a certain store, download their app and sign up for email alerts..there are always coupons that will discount your purchase.
Tiffany's free class will take place next Wednesday on John Tyler's Chester Campus. Space is limited and will fill up fast, so you need to register now: http://richmond.upickem.net/engine/YourSubmission.aspx?contestid=104471
